It’s official, Rekkles is leaving Fnatic and in one of the most active off-seasons in League, he’s heading to G2’s bot lane.

The announcement was made over on Fnatic and no amount of money apparently could tempt him to stay…. here’s what Fnatic said:

Rekkles Leaves Fnatic

In the last few hours, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has informed us of his decision to sign for another team in this offseason period.

After months of discussions, this marks the culmination of negotiations towards his new contract, and the end of his 8 years and almost 600 games in the black and orange.

For transparency into the process, Martin had previously indicated his preference to stay and re-sign earlier this year, and after the largest offer Fnatic has ever made to a player – including a long-term plan for his future after his playing career – Martin has made the decision to move on. This decision was not based on financial gain.

Now we turn to a new chapter for Fnatic, and one we’re ready and excited to commence. Our time with Martin has been long and successful, we could not be more proud of what he has achieved in the Black and Orange.

But as has happened multiple times in our 16 year history, now is a time for change. We’re excited for our new era as one of the world’s most successful League of Legends teams, and we’re excited to bring our fans with us on the journey. Full information of our plans for the years ahead will be released in the coming days.

The next time we meet, we meet as opponents. See you on the rift, Martin.
